Winterize. Yes it is a pain if you don't know what you are doing but it is cheep insurance against a costly repair!

A couple of things if you winterize that often get overlooked.
1) don’t forget the outside shower.
2) Make sure and take off all the shower fixtures (inside and out). I disconnect kitchen faucet sprayer part as well. Then I blow those out. They can freeze and split if water is trapped in them. I had it happen to a shower fixture one winter. Learned my lesson.

This doesn’t have to take long. Once you get a system it take 30 minutes. The longest part is just opening up the drains and letting the water out. But I do something else while that occurs.

You don’t have to get every drop of water out. And you don’t have to get every drop of water out of the grey and black tanks.

No, i just ran it a couple of times for 20 seconds after tank was drained and sent the water in the pump to the lines. I hope that is sufficient. The airstream video on winterization just indicated to run the pump.

Texas-freezing weather is rare-but can burst pipes

BillfromWI-Thank you so much for your pdf "Winterization Blowout Method" which you posted years ago. I love the idea of the signage to remind us the unit is winterized and where the drain plugs are (as well as the count for our particular vehicle!

We are new Airstream 2019 Interstate 24 Grand Touring owners. Until 5 years ago we lived in the north....ND, NY, Upstate NY, Long Island, and the mountains of Virginia, where everything froze. We moved to Texas to be near grandchildren (and children) arriving shortly before Covid and the "Big Freeze". In Fort Worth, we installed a drip irrigation system, which we run on drip every night when the temps might dip below freezing for a few hours. Rare is the sun not blazing warming the surfaces. Eventually, we get around to blowing it out, which takes about 2 hours because of all the tiny sections, end caps hidden under mulch and loosening and testing end cap valves, etc.

However, now, we have this Sprinter van with plumbing! I want to be able to use it intermittently in the winter months in some places in the deep South in times when prolonged freezing is not expected (explore places in Texas, visit folks in Florida, etc.). I have looked at getting the "air skirts" tube system, but I am wondering if it would be just as easy to winterize, or, at least, blow out and fill drains with antifreeze and be able to turn off the heaters completely to not provide a very enticing winter residence for squirrels, mice, etc.
What do you think?
Thanks,
RVGal4

Don't forget the sink traps.

Shakespeare would winterize and so would I. Good luck.
