If you don't blow out or put in antifreeze, I feel certain you will be replacing your toilet flush valve in the spring.

If you use air to blow out your plumping system in lieu of pumping in antifreeze, how do you winterize the water pump? I don't see a way to blow air through the pump.

Thanks,

Rick

Seems to me is you get 99% of water out of system, remove water pump, leave faucets open, low point drains open, water heater drain open, the effect of freezing expanding water is eliminated..

is that not true. ??

I am always surprised at the amount of water that comes out when using air pressure even after opening the low point drains and faucets.

My manual says to take the lines off and let it drain.

This year, I let all my water drain out. Then I connected my compressor. I easily got another 2 quarts of water out. I suspect there are a number of dips in the water lines that hold water.

I disconnect the output and run the pump catching the cup of so in a towel. I also attache a 1/2 NPT male adapter with a hose and screw into the input connect to blow moisture back to the tank, then switch it to the out line to move any moisture further down the line to the LP drains.

Bob

p.s. I use a compressor to blow the lines out. If at home I use a larger dual tank that is overkill. Before that I used a 110VAC inflator that worked fine. In a pinch I've used a 12VDC inflator when on the road. I do not use AF except in the traps/head.
