Viair setting

Preparing to winterize for the first time before returning to Iowa. 2021 International 25FBT. How do I "set" pressure to 50 psi for blowing air? I read that as soon as a faucet is opened the pressure will go down to 0. How do I know what is too much? I'm on the fence about pumping AF. Talked to Jackson Center and they said blowing air and removing plastic filter cover on the water pump was enough. Thoughts?

I have a viair, use it for my tires.

It does not produce the necessary constant pressure / flow / volume necessary for winterization. I use a 6 gallon compressor for winterization.

On another note, you cannot regulate constant pressure on the viair. For tires you use the gauge and stop filling air when you reach your desired pressure.

What he said. I learned the hard way that the only thing that can really keep up has a tank. I bought a Porter Cable pancake compressor and it does a fine job. I really need it for my tires as well, truck and trailer, rather than wearing out my VIAIR before I leave on a trip. My VIAIR is great for those changes needed when out on a trip.

The VAIR is not designed for continuous operation.
Even our 450rv must rest after 45min.
I have seen a portable tire compressor used to fill a 40gal LP tank and that used to blow lines, an even more time consuming job.

Best to buy a portable compressor...

I use my Viair to get the majority of water out of my system. I do have a 2 gallon accumulator tank installed to cushion the air/water pressure. I also have a ball valve on the hose that I use to attach to my trailer. I get everything set up with the valve closed and pump on. Then I open the ball valve and steadily go thru the trailer opening and closing my faucets and toilet. Once I am almost dry, I leave the last faucet open and turn off the pump to clear all pressure. Then I close the valve at my accumulator tank and pump in antifreeze, I don't want to get antifreeze in the tank. I like the added insurance that having pushed antifreeze into all the spaces in the faucets and water pump. Haven't had an issue with plumbing since following this routine.

I use my VIAIR fir blowing the lines. it will work fine. After draining the system close all faucets and pressurize to 40-50 PSI. Open one faucet at a time and re-pressurize between openings. Also blow out the low points and the black tank flush and outside shower.

I purchased their winterization kit that has an air regulator. In fact you can blow out your lines with a bicycle pump - it just takes a bit longer.
