Stuck hot water low point drain valve

During winterizing this year I could not get any drainage (water or compressed air) out of my hot water low point drain on a 2018 Flying Cloud 30 rbt. Cold water low drain works fine. Hot water heater was in bypassed position.

Access to the valves is difficult, but with a wrench I am able to turn the hot valve handle, and although the valve turns, it doesn’t seem to open. As I said not even the hiss of compressed air comes out. Is it possible that the valve is defective, or am I missing something here?

Access is so difficult, I’m inclined to never touch them again and rely on compressed air and antifreeze to winterize. Bad idea or not??

If you use antifreeze and get good mixing in that area you will be okay. The alcohol will diffuse into the low point over time, perhaps 4-7 days, so you won't be protected down to the drain valve immediately.

When you turn the handle are you sure the valve stem turns? perhaps take the handle off, it may be stripped out or cracked. If the stem turns try blowing air into the drain exit. with the valve open.

Thank You, I've only now had a chance to address this and; yes, the handle was not turning the valve stem. It is now fixed with a new valve.
