Hi

Just went out to the garage and looked. No shortage to report, the jugs are still sitting there Had to blow the dust off to be sure .....

We blow out the lines in the trailer. Then do the valves on the water heater. Next pump antifreeze into the lines. Finally blow antifreeze through the lines and out. Not much to deal with in the spring. Not much risk of problem over the winter. What's left in odd places is antifreeze. Takes a bit less than 2 gallons to do a 30' Classic. Whole process is done in an afternoon (which plenty of beer drinking time still available ...). The beer costs more than the anti-freeze.

we pour about 3 oz in drains as well.. or you can suck or blow out the p traps. either way works.
Maybe that's the difference....I blow for at least 15-20 min.

I blow my lines until there's no more water coming out! I haven't timed it, but it's probably closer to 15 - 20 mins.

I don't doubt it. I had a hard time finding it last year so I bought mine 6 weeks ago.
Amazon sells the concentrate so shipping is low and all you need to do is fill up the gallon jug with water.

Hear it's true, my two hardware stores couldn't get what they wanted. They claim a chemical issue with Dupont.

Huh. There must have been a run on the stuff over the weekend! I was at Evergreen Walmart on Friday and they had plenty...I saw it in a couple different aisles.

I bought a couple of jugs and winterized on Saturday...hate to see "our camping season" come to an end so soon ~

But we did save a gallon "just in case" to re-winterize if we get a chance to get out again before winter really sets in...and we've been known to dry camp @ RMNP on New Year's Eve!

I guess there was a run on it!

I've got one more local trip coming up soon, so I'll winterize after that. My next trip after that is to the Formula 1 race down in Texas in late October. I think I'll probably have to winterize before that trip, and then re-winterize when we get back.

I bought 3 gallons early this year at Meijers. 1 gallon is usually enough for our 23' AS. We rarely get much below -5, used to, but not anymore.

Captain Morgan manufactures a 100-proof spiced rum, which has an alcohol content of 50 percent. Liquor with an alcohol proof of 84 usually freezes at -30 F, while liquor with a proof of 24 freezes at 20 F. The higher the alcohol proof, the lower the freezing temperature of the liquor. This means that 100-proof rum has a lower freezing point than 80-proof varieties.

There's a number of whisky brands that are 100 proof (50% alcohol). There's even Old Grand Dad 114 proof. It's make the pipes smell good too, unless you don't like the smell of whiskey.

Cruzan makes a 151 proof rum. Bacardi did but they have discontinued it. It had a warning label not to smoke while drinking it.

Ok, now we're talking about full scale alcohol abuse. I'd rather buy a new air compressor than pump booze into my lines.

When blowing out the lines one needs to take the outlet hose off the pump and run pump to drain the water from the pump. Lots of people forget that. That's why pumps freeze up. That was the only reason I used a bit of anti-freeze.

I own a marina and have been told by my suppliers that the anti freeze they have delivered is all they have and the are not expecting any more this year. 95% of propylene glycol production is off-line after the recent hurricane.

Hi

I have timed it. You can sit there for three hours and still have a stream of humidity coming out of the faucet. That's with the biggest oil free compressor you can run on a normal outlet.

Go away for about 14 hours ( so overnight ...) and try it again. Out comes a spurt of water followed by the same moisture. Run another couple hours. Come back the next day ... same thing .... after 4 days I gave up.

The problem is that spurt of water. If it happens to settle in the wrong location "this time" you have damage.

I haven't really had that experience. Mine seems to get pretty empty. No issues yet!

Buy as much as you can before the hoarders get it!!!!!?

Seems that each trailer can be different. I blew the lines until there was zero mist then let it run for another hour or so. I was a noob and didn’t know that I should blow for five or ten minutes. Then the temp in the Austin area hit 3 degrees and below freezing for a few days straight. No leaks. Maybe the extra noise bothering the neighbor also dries out the lines.

Better stock up on RV toilet paper while you're at it!

Because of this thread, I promptly ordered from my local WalMart enough for this year…and next year, just in case.

I pick it up in the morning.
