Retaining heat through the skylight

What is the best way to retain natural heat inside the coach? I live in North Florida and need to learn how to keep the heat inside my coach through window coverings. For example, the skylight has a window covering. Should I keep it closed or open it to retain heat.

cut a pink foam insulation board that is 2" thick. glue on alum foil, shiny side out. spray glues on the foam. press down flat
make it a squeeze fit.
you can also pull the shade closed to keep it from falling

easy, cheap and works well

Welcome to the forum bsrobinson!

Quite a surprising question coming from someone in Florida. Usually the question is how to keep heat out using window coverings. The good thing is, whatever works for one will likely work for the other.

Thank you, prepping for the few week winter dip in temperatures in Northern Florida. We do have reflector inserts and also like the idea to use insulation board. We don't have sustainably cold weather but in an abundance of caution we wanted to try some ideas to keep the temp even. thanks for responding.

I did this for my skylights last summer, worked great for keeping out the summer heat. I am sure it would help keep the heat in during the winter.

Well to "retain" heat, yes like others said close and insulate.
To let heat in you would open it.
If your staying in the trailer on a sunny day it "might" be worth it (depending on inside and outside temps) to open it from 10am-3pm. Otherwise best to close/insulate for overall heat loss verses gain.

Install Maxim Shylights they are triple pane and transmit little heat. You will never have to replace one.
