We are a military family looking to store our 34' Classic for 3 years while we are stationed overseas. The length of our rig is making it difficult to find a protected location. We had hoped to loan it out to friends while we were gone, but it doesn't look like that will work out. We *could* store on post here in Kansas for cheap, but it will be exposed to the elements. Does anyone else have experience with long-term storage solutions? TIA!!!

Small, out-of-the-way (non-municipal) airports often have unused hangars which might be considered. They have fewer security concerns as well. Ask your pilot buddies.

(Be aware that some municipal airports have rules against the storage of non-aviation related objects, in compliance with federal grant obligations.)

There are several underground cave storage facilities in KS & MO, perhaps you can work out a deal. I used to store my Bambi in a unused horse barn, maybe you can look for or advertise for space on a farm?

I had responded before regarding the underground storage near Liberty, Missouri. I will check and get the name of the place. You can call and see if they will perhaps offer a special long term storage plan for active military. You got nothing to loose. You could google and easily find it also. Good luck, hope it works out.

Polarlyse, I appreciate your response and did look up several places near KCMO - but most do not have facilities for a unit this length. One place has closed down.

I think I made an error. It's near Independance, MO and I think it's called Innerspace storage. It stored my trailer ( a 30'er) for it's whole life before we bought it. I suppose they might have some limits on length but if they can take a 30' should handle a 34'.

I think they are still in business so if you haven't checked with them give it a go.

Also my friend ( the previous owner ) had found inside storage somewhere in Leavenworth for a motor home he bought after selling his Airstream to me. He doesn't have it any more but it's somewhere there in town.
