Houston We Have a Problem!

Had to post this snow day, this isn't something we're used to down here in Houston. Probably silly to yall northerners but lots of people missed work or left early today from what I've heard. It was nice but already melting and will be gone tomorrow. Makes us want a "real" winter sometimes or at least a white Christmas.

Greetings from the Florida Panhandle

That's pretty cool (pun intended). We are also right along I-10; maybe we will get some tomorrow.

We winterized our trailer today. We are expecting snow tomorrow and 26 degrees tomorrow night. We live in Georgia! I'll be sure to take a snow picture too, if it really happens.

I can remember turning around and returning to I10 at Valdosta because I95 was completely iced over and the snow was seriously accumulating. Drove west in snow throughout the Florida panhandle on I10. Was late '80s.

So far, it's all south of us in Arkansas this time.

Snow is great! Here is a pic of the house last year at Christmas time, Vancouver BC. (This year an Airstream now sits in the driveway. I guess I managed to avoid Santa's naughty list once again!)

For the past few days we have been having lows near 0 and highs less than freezing. Tonight we get a break. Low of 15 and chance snow.
We don't have enough yet to Cross country ski. The trailer and sprinkler system for the lawn were winterized in early October.

Arrrggg - snow!

We drove from Killeen TX to Jackson MS, arriving 9:30 last night. Most of the trip was in-and-out of the northern section of the snow event. The roads weren't bad but the drivers were horrible.

Woke up to this morning this scene in the back yard

I grew up in the snow belt of western New York State. I remember the tunnel effect when the winds blew the soft snow over the tops of the drifts. I also remember the fear of sharing the road with the snow plow with blade, in the complete white-outs in areas such as your picture. The roads would get so bad that only snow mobiles were allowed out on them. We even had sidewalk plows. Now in Georgia, everything shuts down with even the anticipation of a flake! Happy Holidays.

Many years ago, I landed a plane at the Buffalo airport, at night, where the snow was piled about that high, on each side of the runway.

Ah yes, the memories of the city I was born it, still linger on, especially the winter snow banks.

And now, in California, you see "smog banks". Well at least you don't need a snow plow for them.

not winterized

well, i have found room for my AS in my shop, haven't winterized, probably won't-going south for Christmas-and by the way-Have a Merry Christmas season, everyone! Winter in the Pacific NW, especially in the Columbia/Willamette River valleys can be pretty mild, but we have had for us some low temps this week. right now I am looking at frost outside, but temp is still in the High 40's in the shop with no heat. and for the California folks, if you want rain-you know where we are, and it does, on occasion, rain up here.
ol' bill, who has heard from his Albuquerque, NM connection that it is cold, cold there. HMMM global freezing, anyone?
