It got up to almost 50F yesterday, so I could open the 2nd drain. I got a clear stream of water and then antifreeze, so I shut it and I'm assuming everything ill be ok if nothing was damaged.

Hi

That's all you need to do. Sounds like it's fine.

????

Is antifreeze left in the lines popular these days?
We did it the first year and tasted it for months.

We pour it only into the traps.
SFSG here in snowy WNYS.

Hi

That's why we put it in and then blow it all out. You get the entire benefit of the antifreeze (no water left in the pipes) and the "taste impact" is greatly reduced.

We're having a brown winter so far in the Twin Cities, personally I'd like some of that snow.

I blow everything out and then pump the antifreeze through just to be on the safe side. In the spring I'll sanitize with a bleach dillution; the antifreeze gets pumped out and then I flush a few times after the bleach. With that we haven't noticed any antifreeze taste, but then we don't drink from the faucet that often.

If the wrong type of pink antifreeze is used that will be a problem for sure. On our first RV we made that mistake once. We also put antifreeze in that RV's hot water heater - once. Took many fills/flushes to get it all out. Now we only use the stuff that is alcohol free and there doesn't seem to be any residual taste once the lines are flushed, and we don't put any antifreeze into the HWH.

Richard...

I've often wondered why I have a 'water heater' and everyone else a heater for hot water.
