Hi.
I purchased this direct from Eva-Dry on April 2020, and have been using it full time.
I have previously used a small compressor dehumidifier that works well and keeps humidity 30-40% but is a bit noisy, is a power hog, and is twice the size.

Reasons for EVD-2400 purchase.
Smaller, much quieter, can run 12v (requires an accessory adapter) or 120v, 60w power consumption, has an internal adjustable dehumidist, has a drain hose barb on the tank, basically perfect for my needs.

I full time in the NW, winter humidity is a problem.
I got this late in the season but we have had a few rainstorms where the outside humidity reads 90% on my inexpensive outdoor sensor. The EVD-2400 basically runs full time and keeps the inside of my 25-ft between 40-50%. The compressor dehumidifier was about 10% lower, but larger, noiser, and a power hog. I keep the EVD-2400 under my dinette. I will eventually drill a hole in the floor for a drain tube. Basically I'm happy with the choice. If I remember I'll re-review next winter.

Hello Ahroc,

We live in Western WA and purchased a Caravel 16 last month. No trips yet, still dewinterized from factory and parked next to our house. We happened to have a 30 amp hook up so have use of electricity while learning about the unit. Spent NYE inside and ran the furnace. Of course we experienced our first condensation then, no surprise, but what did surprise me was when I left a cheap hygrometer in the trailer, I discovered that on a daily basis, we are about 80 % relative humidity regardless of whether raining outside or not. Despite the high humidity, no condensation anywhere inside, so it can be misleading without looking at the hygrometer. Apparently the inside of trailer is generally the same temp as outside? From what I have read, humidity is still evil, condensation or not. Obviously, if we were to be using it, all of this would be even worse.
So...I have been researching dehumidifiers like crazy and was encouraged by your experience. Most reviews I read are for much larger units than ours so difficult to know what would be adequate without overkill. I wanted to know how things were going and if you still felt that unit was a good choice?

I initally thought that this unit might not keep up. I live in my Airstream, so propane heat at 71 in evening, 65 at night, 65 daytime when I'm at work. But the dehumidifier works fine for my situation. Its 43% inside, 76% outside as I'm writing this. I dump the bucket around once a week. Still haven't drilled my floor for the hose

. I'm currently using it on 120-v but I have (and tried) the 12-v adapter. The dehumidifier probably runs 90% of the time, but it is much quieter than a compressor style dehumidifier. It has a built in humidistat so it will shut off if it reaches my set-point. The less expensive ones are always on, no automatic controls. Its was a little spendy, but honestly I would purchase it again.

Hi, I have a dehumidifier that is the same as the Eva-Dry 1100; I found several of these with different names on them. I like Ahroc's unit better. Every where I looked I could only find tiny units and huge units. I also keep a Damp Rid bucket in my trailer.

Thanks for the link!! Always one of the great benefits of the Forum! As a result, I bought their silica canister system for my home. I have some closets that trap moisture, even when the A/C is operating and this system looks like a great solution.

Thanks Ahroc for all the info and pix. Your unit looks like a great option for me wile traveling. I tried to post back to you twice but my log in had timed out and the posts seem to have vaporized. Posting on here is almost as steep a learning curve as condensation and humidity! You have been quite helpful! Cherel

I am looking at getting something like this. I really like the idea of the 12V adapter given that I primarily boondock and am running on batteries. The specs for the EDV-2400 indicate that it pulls 6 amps, do you have a means for confirming what the actual current draw is?

Select the meter to the 20A mode and place the clamp around the cable. You may need to select DC, not sure though. Where the cable has both positive and negative together the meter may not work. If so, you can measure at the battery box by placing the clamp around the positive cable that goes from battery to the trailer. That method will require a measurement with the dehumidifier running and not running so that you can subtract any other loads that are on the battery.
Those clamp on meters are super handy, I have been thinking about buying one for some time...

Sorry for the delay. Had to find the 12v adapter. The dehumidifier seems to be native 12v as there doesn't appear to be a transformer on the 12v cord. There is definitely a transformer on the 120v cord. See pics, if my meter settings are wrong please correct me. I don't have a lot of experience in this area. I clamped around the black wire behind the plate and zeroed the meter just prior.

Thanks for those details. Another good tool to have in one's dehumidification quiver is the following Dampp-Chaser 120-volt "wand" designed to keep pianos and closets dry when needed:

Our local hardware store carries various lengths, as they have been used for generations in our coastal community, especially before air conditioning was commonplace.

We keep a few 24" units plugged in all winter in the FC20 stored in the driveway -- works wonders for the trailer never getting mildew etc.. Low wattage.

Hi all!
I received a PM about this, and decided to update.
I've been using this dehumidifier for 3-1/2 years, without any problems.
I live in my Airstream, so this dehumidifier is used 24/7 during the winter months. Approximately 2/3rds of the year it pretty much runs full time when its humid outside, and keeps the inside 40%-50%. I still haven't hooked up the drain, and I drain the tank about once a week. The only maintenance is it gets a bit dusty requiring a vacuum and a wipe down.
