de-winterize the HW tank

we picked up our AS22Fb. the storage place did the winterizing.

i don't think they made the hw tank ready for summer usage.

can anyone look at the valve positions and let me know if they are in winter or summer mode

The top two are correct. The third one down from the top on the white cold water pipe needs to be opened. That one fills the tank with water.

Hard to see on your pics but any others below that, if they disappear in to the floor, need to be closed, they are low point drains. It appears that at least the hot water one (red pipe) is open and needs to be closed. Check the white one that goes into the floor as well and make sure closed.

(Handle in-line with pipe=open, handle 90 degrees perpendicular to pipe=closed.)

Also make sure the drain plug is installed and not leaking (if the storage place didn't know to put some plumbers tape on it.)

Agree with pcskier. If you look at the valves as positions on the clock (starting at 12-position at top), "12" should be open, "6" open, "9" closed for ready to use. The two that are "on the floor" are drains for the plumbing, you will quickly know if they are "wrong" as all of your water will leave the trailer forcefully onto the ground below.

Winter positions are: 12 closed, 6 closed, 9 open (this bypasses the water heater).

hmm. i checked and this is what i think will work

all on the floor closed as they are winter drains

12 Open
9 closed
6 open

if 9 is open then hot and cold get mixed

if 6 is closed, the tank get no cold water

i marked the diagram with the three values i check and adjusted

Yes, you have it correct. The water comes in from the bottom left and can't pass through the valve in #9 position. With the other two valves open it flows into the HW tank and out the top in the red lines.

When they bypass the tank for winterizing each valve is switched. Only #9 remains open while the other two are closed.

It looks to me like both the #9 and #6 were closed in your original picture. If that is the case then you are not bypassing the HW tank you have simply shut if off. I use air to winterize and I have to have the bypass operating so the air can force the water out of the pipes. I don't think they could do it if #6 and #9 are both closed. I might be missing something......wouldn't be the first time......but this is what I noticed.
