Armstrong AC Cover
Hi all,
What do you recommend to use as a cover for the old Armstrong AC? My old 77 is still running strong, but I wanted to be able to cover it when not in use. I've checked everywhere and even ordered a Camco cover, but sadly it did not fit. Thanks in advance!!

The only shroud I have been able to find comes from Inland RV.

Do you want a cover or a shroud? If you want a shroud, the only one available will cost nearly as much as the discounted price on a brand new air conditioner, after shipping.
If you want a cover, you may have to get a custom-made one.

They are made with molded fiberglass, and are the same shape and size as the original plastic covers.

Even if my cover did cost as much as a new a/c, IMO it would have been worth buying.
It is a truly impressive repop in an era where repops as a rule pretty much suck.
Equipment ain't what it used to be, and it makes me wonder how much an a/c unit built as well as the Armstrong unit would cost today.

A new AC bumps about $1,000.00, plus installation.

Armstrong AC Cover
I bought my cover from you several months ago Andy, it was way less than a thousand bucks freight and all. ( if memory serves me it was on sale at the time and I think it was about $400 or $450 delivered)
Like I say, I was impressed with its fit , finish, and overall quality. The piece was very solid and only required a mild sanding for paint.

What do you think, 3 to 5K maybe for an A/C built like an Armstrong in today's market?
On that note, my 72 Armstrong unit is still running, and I am about sure it is still as sold.
I am thankful for this forum for stopping me from simply scrapping the unit to buy a "new and improved" unit.

Probably the new and improved modern price would b e around $2500-$3000. Everything on it (except the shroud) was heavy duty commercial grade stuff.

I need a cover. The shroud is in good shape and I want to be able to keep it out of the elements when stored.
