Tongue jack for my Bambi

This is an old thread, but hopefully one of you guys will respond.

I am looking at adding the Atwood 80515 Deluxe 2500# power jack to our 19-foot Bambi. However, I am unsure whether this is the right jack for this trailer.

Atwood also makes a "short" model (the 80515 is the "standard"). Is the 80515 the right jack for our trailer?

A jack is a jack, if the mounting hole work and the capacity is correct you are good. Be sure and fuse the wiring correctly. I purchased a refurbished jack from ebay for $99.00 and it worked fine. The big thing is the orintation of the jack head to be sure it clears the tanks.

On the short vs long, I think I would go long unless you have a obstruction. If the jack is to short then you may have to place blocks under it in certain conditions. I have a 2005 Safari and this is what worked for me your mileage may vary so be sure to think it all out.

Good Luck

Thanks for the quick response. Just curious, the jack may affect the mileage?

It's used metaphorically to mean Your experience might be different, and is now used loosely to say You might have a different opinion. Sometimes seen as YMMV.

Follow-up (02/16/09):

I installed the Atwood jack this weekend, and it is about the easiest upgrade I have ever done on our 19-foot Bambi. The whole front end of our Airstream is made up of Atwood parts, so the new jack just dropped into the same mounting hole. All I had to do was install the new mounting bolts, crimp a ring terminal on the end of the power wire and attach it to the battery terminal.

Removing the old Atwood hand-crank jack and installing the new electric model only took about 15 minutes (not counting the search for the holy tools -- Do you guys have this problem, too? I used to think my two boys kept moving my tools, but now that they are both approaching 40, I have concluded that it's my wife! Oh well, maybe my Alzheimer's is acting up again...).

Anyway, it was an extrememly quick and easy upgrade, and one that will undoubtedly be appreciated by both my wife and myself as we get closer to retirement.
