Save your Jack... Leveling Blocks

I have read over the years about Airstream owners admitting they bent their electric jack... trying to drive off with it... down. It seems as if it would be hard to do.

Driving away with the Leveling Jack... UP... is advised at all times. Home or at the Ponderosa Ranch.

Just trying to pull forward or backing up with chocks still in place is another common... oops. Yes, I admit missing one and just one is very effective to keep you from moving. The YELLOW chock must have blended with the red dirt, I say.

If you do not have a WIFE, find one. This will never happen the first time with supervision. There are a wild assortment of Women on this Forum that are handy and smart, too. Mine is already taken, so buzz off...

I use a 2 x 12 x 12 for the Base and the Top with the plastic fitting leveling blocks in between, like a peanut butter sandwich. In order to level, I raise or lower the jack on this stack, first put in place. The caveat is that you have to DISCONNECT THE TRAILER FROM THE EQUALIZER HITCH. Works, every time.

This is also how I detach the hitch from our Airstreams since 2006. All lengths of Airstreams function just fine with this method. I doubt if it was in a manual that came with the trailer. Maybe suppose to be in the Common Sense booklet... that chocks and being attached to a tow vehicle and trailer are... temporary if camping.

I could have saved $8 for a replacement at WalMart. These are good chocks. I will verify that.

At times... I do not even detach the tow vehicle. The location may be convenient as we will not be driving more than 300 feet to park to get... exercise? Come on, get in touch with your common sense. Smell, taste and other sensual male instincts can be applied to avoid doing dumb things. I learned this 127,000 years ago.

Sensual Sense is worthless in the Modern World, it is rare, not of the Common Sense variety.

If you keep the Airstream and Tow Vehicle attached... both are easily found if you are looking for your campsite. The license plates.. are where they were before you left home. Kind of thing. Find them and this could be your 'stuff' and campsite.

How did I learn. Sure not the easy way. That is for sure... but this is not Rocket Science, although those at Tesla are on top of that, without a Jack. They have Elon Musk. He has a girlfriend to help out.

I would use a photo, but my options lapsed last year and I need to get back into a Casino and get a Four of a Kind with a 30 cent wager to win $100 with a kicker. This is Video Poker talking here.

Bending your jack... you are obviously playing a one cent slot machine and expecting dimes.

I, too, have a wife. She is quite experienced in pointing out my goofs. Sometimes even before I make that goof. Wives are indispensable, no question about it. You single fellers better go get your own, unless you're the type of guy who enjoys living dangerously, with a goof lurking at every stop.
