Routine Power Jack Maintenance

Hi all,

I Have an Atwood 4000 lb. electric jack on my 2018 25FB.

The manual says this: "Once each year, extend jack as far as possible and clean inner ram tube.
Coat tube with light coat of silicone spray lubricant"

When I extend my jack completely I notice residual grease. I'm not sure if I should really clean that off. It's fairly clean anyway, and I have sprayed it with the silicone spray but it just feels like I should be greasing it somewhere.

Anyone know any better?

Thanks,

OK you got me thinking

You've motivated me to do some research and testing on my rig. First I need to dig out my hand crank and make sure I know how to use it and that it actually works. Also I would think the grease you are seeing are from the 2 gears and they should be inspected and greased as needed. Lastly the clutching mechanism probably should be inspected, I know I seem to run it up to the limit and hear it kick in. I did a quick google and just found that the motor and gears are one assembly, so most likely not serviceable.

Thanks Rick and Becky, I guess I'll crack it open and check on the gears, too.
