Power tongue jack ready for a dirt nap?

The power jack on my 2021 GT is starting to make some disagreeable noises during use. Still seems to work, but I’ve read some posts that maybe these things tend to fail prematurely. Thinking of bringing a bottle jack and jack stand along in case it dies on me. When these things fail, is it just the motor drive gears that go and you can still crank it by hand, or does it just lock up and won’t function at all? I understand it could be either, but I’ve never had a manual or power jack fail to where it could not be cranked by hand.

You should have received a crank as part of your tools that came from the Airstream.

Usually when the motor fails it is either electrical or the grear between the motor and the reduction to the jack breaks.

Either way you should be able to hand crank.

Hi

A good "bath" from a can of spray lube can do wonders for a power jack ..... Your trailer is still in warranty. It's not clear just how long the jack is warrantied for. If it *is* dying, you probably can get a new one for free.

New in kind, ready to poop on schedual?
But it IS under warrantee.

I was a bit skeptical at first but the 'no gear system' of the Husky 5000 has turned out to be a nice improvement.
The screw ball drive is less jerky, quieter, stronger...and a bit slower.

Warranty is questionable since I bought it used. I may contact the jack mfg and see what they say. No idea I’d the original owner abused it.

Hi

Some warranties transfer, some don't. Some of the "add on" items have 5 year warranties. It's at least worth asking Mr Google about ....

Yes for sure, the manufacturer of the jack should stand behind it if it's still in warranty.
Check your AS packet, all the individual appliance installation and parts manuals should be there. They were in ours.

Lol, what AS packet? Previous owner said he never got one. The only paper I got was the ProPride installation manual. I kinda believe he did not get one. He was apparently in a big hurry when he picked it up and the dealer he got it from was a Camping World dealer in Oklahoma.

I will contact the mfg and see what they say.

I think that happens a lot.
Maybe they just keep them for souvenirs, "see kids we used to own an Airstream"
