OEM Super Jack Parts (aka Tongue Jack)

Hello Airstreamers,

I am really hoping someone will be able to help me out.

I just spent the last three days restoring the Super Jack from my 1978 Airstream 31' Sovereign. I was just about to reassemble the unit when I dropped the electric motor housing and cracked one of the curved magnets inside. See attached photos. I am so upset with myself, all this work and now I can't use it.

Is there any chance someone out there has one of these old Super Jacks around and if yes can I buy the magnet/motor housing/motor off of it from you?

The part number/markings on the motor are:
REDMOND
8
PE2424Q 12VDC

As you will see from the photos, I really only need the one magnet, but it may be better/easier just to get the housing or motor.

If you don't have the part, do you know a place where I can buy one?

Enjoy your day,

Michael Wild

I have a Barker Superjack that I replaced with an Atwood. It was making some strange noises on the downstroke. Its yours but I bet the shipping to Canada might be prohibitive. I probably could remove the head and just ship that and chuck the shaft.

I replaced the Super Jack on my trailer because the original one quit working altogether.
I still have it, though.
I will look to see if I have the parts you need.
I replaced it with a new Super Jack that made funny noises as Kelvin mentioned. I asked the guys at Barker about the noise. They said that the noise was because the jack was new and the noise would go away with use. At first I thought that was a bunch of baloney, but the noise has gone away. The explanation was that the brake (?) was really tight on new jacks. Apparently other brands aren't noisy when new.
The reason I replaced with another Super Jack was to retain the original appearance of the trailer, although the gray paint on the new one is a shade off...

THANKS Kelvin! All I need is the motor assembly. I am happy to send you an email money transfer in advance to cover shipping costs. Please email me at Michael@theWildsLife.com or txt at 780.970.1020 so we can figure out the details.

I can also do a quick video showing how to disassemble the motor from the tongue jack's head.

When I first saw the broken pieces that was my first thought, but now that it is two pieces, the polarity is reversed so they push away from each other.

That works too. I had trouble removing the two set screws that attached the head to the shaft, eventually I just drilled them out.

The set screws may already be out of mine.
When I decided it was shot and ordered a new one I didn't bother to put it all the way back together.
If the set screws are still there, they can be removed- not rusted.
We'll see at some point when it is daylight and not raining...

Ok, so mine is the older version from the 70's, BUT I know the gears are interchangeable, I am not sure if the motor is. Any chance either of you (M. or Kelvin) could take a pic of the motor and provide rough measurements (diameter and length)?

Is there anyone else out there with one of the older SuperJacks?

Thanks in advance, I really appreciate the help the forum members have given so far.

Actually you can and have posted pictures. However there is a limit for that with out upgrading your membership. In your case you have reached the limit.

Choices are:
Delete some of your current pictures.
Upgrade your membership
Or do nothing.
