Disconnecting tongue electric jack

Brand new AS’ers here! 2 days ago we took possession of a 2017 Flying Cloud. All info much appreciated. Where would we find the fuse for the electric jack? We don’t prefer leaving it operational while it is stored at our rented storage space but haven’t found a way to disconnect it from power. Any suggestions? Don’t want to disconnect the batteries just now as they are trickle charging with solar panels. All power is turned off to the unit but power jack is still ‘alive’.

Follow the wiring from the head of the jack toward the battery box positive post on the battery. There should be a fuse holder in that wire somewhere.

To elaborate further, the jack is connected directly to the battery, there is an inline fuse on the lead wire in the battery box.

Congrats on your new AS and welcome to the forum. It's great to have you with us.

You will find the fuse holder on your lead from the battery. It may be under the cover of the jack head.

I would assume you are concerned with someone stealing the AS?

You could simply disconnect the positive lead to the jack - change the battery box barrel closer to one that locks, in this way you secure the whole rig and don't have to worry about your batteries growing legs. Also consider some form of Coupler Vault.

we added a disconnect switch for both the front power jack and the external power connection for our parkit360. along with a tongue lock, this is to prevent people /kids form moving the position of the As or moving it

Welcome to the Airstream Community and Forums!

The jack has a fuse holder in the battery box. You can pull the fuse if you want. Good time to pick up some spares too!

Did your trailer come with the owner's manual / pouch with manuals from the installed equipment ? You can download manuals from the Airstream Owners Hub / Document Archive

My tongue jack's fuse is not in the battery box. It is inline on the hot wire between the battery box and the jack head. Just follow the hot wire from the jack head to the battery and you will find it wherever it is.

Exactly. It is parked in a safe facility but we can foresee curious little ones pushing buttons etc....

Bobbo, good to know! Thanks for correctly pointing that out. That photo was from our 2018 FC23FB - Airstream keeps making small changes!
