winegard batwing is leaking

Washed up trailer today and found water dripping straight down center handle. Just got back from big trip and batwing was lowered in wrong position. Could this have damaged anything. I noticed it before hitting road but other party lowered without everything lining up first.

I don't know, but I've chased-down a lot of coaches leaving the camp with their batwing up.

Not sure if this is your problem but major reason for leaks at the handle is a bad "O" ring. The O ring is on the worm gear the handle attaches to.

Mine was no leak one day and major leak one week later.

I tried replacing the O ring but that does not work. New worm gear with O ring is around $11 at any RV store and a easy replacement.

Winegard site has the directions

I have done some reading on winegard

If it leaks straight down center handle the quadrings need replacement. You mentioned the worm gear and one o ring. Do I unscrew the metal plate on top, undo crank handle and it lifts straight off?
