window seal 'grease'?

I know I've seen this on the forum before but can't find it. Isn't there some sort of lubricant that I can put all around the strips under my windows so that when my windows stick and I'm trying to open the windows they won't shatter? Right now I'm slipping a plastic knife blade to gently pry them open, but I'm nervous doing that.

I have read that silicone spray - Google Product Search is used on window seals so they won't stick.

I have used silicone spray that I purchased at Lowes on the rubber gasket and it keeps the windows form sticking. I have had to repeat this about once a year. The plastic putty knife is also my method if a window does stick.

if you still have a problem after the silicone use a plastic knife on both lower corners at the same time. this will keep the flexing to a minimum. apply increasing pressure gently and evenly.

Silicone spray, is used for many things on the exterior.

Lubing the window, access door and entrance door gaskets, is a semi annual PM.

Lubing the entrance door striker bolt and pocket, is a PM as needed.

Lubing the entrance door hinges, is another PM, as needed.

Lubing the LPG hold down "T" handle is another as needed PM.

Lubing the footstep is a good PM.

Other types of lubes for the exterior of an Airstream, generally speaking, run a distant second to "silicone spray".

I use silicone spray since I have some and it works pretty well. I keep a metal putty knife in my tool box—it has many uses—and gently loosen the bottom of the windows when they stick. They are stronger than you think, but it's still good to be gentle.

Airstream specifies certain different types of oils for other things like hinges in the owner's manual.

This is what I use on my BMW weatherstripping. Keeps it fresh and pliable.

It has a nice circular applicator that cleans and applies the silicone to yhr seals and weatherstripping.

I use 303 Protectant. No sticking so far. We'll see after staying closed up in storage for 5 months.

I agree!
How often to coat them depends on if your windows are subject to sunlight and heat. The more exposed to sun and heat the more often you need to coat them. It's also good to use 303 on the Fantastic vent rubber to keep it from sticking.
The sticking problem, in my case, is less of a problem as time and coats of 303 are applied.

Yup, me to, as well as applying directly to shylights, vent covers, interior plastic window surrounds, tires......anything rubber or plasic which takes a sun beating.

We don't have these windows, but for other areas we use aerosol Teflon. We got a can of it from an auto parts store, but it can also be found in hobby/craft shops where it is sold as a mold release agent for candles and other molded parts. (FYI, it looks like a can of spray paint.) Within a few seconds after application, it dries and leaves a thin white film of Teflon that prevents parts from sticking.

I have used glycerin purchased in most drug stores on the boat and Airstrream seals. One application lasts for years, it is good for the skin, healthy and cheap.
