Some PO has applied the worst sealant ever over the entry door

. This stuff is clear like some silicon, but is nearly hard to the touch. It is very stuck to the skins, but not so well that it will stop any water. I have tried paint thinner, goo gone, and a heat gun. The latter makes it kinda gooey, but not enough to come off in any great fashion. Any Ideas?

Try brake cleaning fluid. Pour some on a rag and rub with the grain of the skin, then wipe clean afterwards removing excess brake cleaning fluid.This was a tip I learned from the AS tech at Airstream of Spokane for removing parbond that was left around the skin joint seals on my 2005 CCD.
I haven't tried it yet, so no guarantees on what you're dealing with. Good Luck!

Do you think he used hot glue? If he did, the only thing that will take it off is heat, and and scraping it off.

Gasket remover worked very well for me on silicone. It can be found at auto supply stores

If you're going to try brake fluid, just keep in mind that it is also an excellent paint remover. It will remove any clearcoat that you get it on.

Gasket remover removes paint too.

Acetone or MEK? Wear glove and a respirator if inside. Ventilation is a must.
These wil remove any celar coat or paint as well.
IF the heat gun makes it soft you can try a plastic scraper. THey can easily be ground into any shape desired. Buy more than one.. the break easily.

You can also buy plastic razor blades that will fit into the holder for the metal single edge blades at most DIY-oriented auto parts stores.

Thanks for the input. I have had moderate success (before the post) with the heat gun/plastic putty knife. Was afraid to try any chemicals, the trailer has good clear coat. Y'all comfirmed my theories. Guess I will contiune with that, and hope my elbow remains intact. Terry, thanks for the plastic razor blade tip. I haven't seen those.
