Tear/Crack under rock guard bracket
Hello all,
We did a thorough look at the airstream we just purchased and it looks like there is a minor crack in the aluminum, where the rock guard attaches. Is there a more cost effective easy way to fix this (without replacing the panel)? We were thinking maybe silicon?
Please let me know your thoughts! Advice is welcomed and much appreciated.
Since it's in a hidden location:
Remove the bracket.
Drill a hole in the end of the crack.
Fill the hole with Vulkem or similar.
Cur a patch out of aluminum, and rivet it over the affected area. Make sure the patch is an inch bigger than the crack.
Rivet the bracket back in place on the patch.
Apply sealant as required.
Re-install the segment protector.
