Safari Leak

I've got a 2004 28' Safari that has been leaking at the rear for some time now. Didn't know it until recently. Bought the trailer not knowing of the leaks and was not told of them. Thought it might be coming in the tail lights because many of the screws in the lenses were stripped out. Took it to a dealer and replaced both bezels and gaskets and caulked it generously. Still leaking as if nothing has been done to stop it. Obviously we're missing the leak hole. After this last heavy rain found some water that had dripped from roof on to bedroom closet shelf. Carpet is wet from the rear wall to just past the closet doors. There is an after market Fantastic Fan in the bedroom. I'm guessing (and I mean guessing) that maybe water is getting in the roof some where and traveling down inside the walls to the floor. Subfloor in one place is starting the rot process. I feel that the floor-to-wall seal has now been compromised. Has any body had rear leak problems with Safaries that are similar? Any suggestions would very much be appreciated. Thank you very much.

My Safari had a leak at the that would wet the floor at the rear bumper area. If your trailer has not been repaired, it is leaking also.

This is a thread about repairing that type of leak.

This thread is about repairing the soft floor, using epoxy.

In addition to your suspected Fantastic fan, the leak at the closet shelf could be from the plumbing vent cover that is above the closet. If there is a skylight in that vicinity, it would be a good bet that it is leaking also.

Good luck!

Go to the repair forum for Safari or leaks. You will find tons of leak issues. Most of them are the rear not being sealed under the trim band.

Remove the rear trim band and inspect for sealant. If there is no sealant, water can and will leak in, wet the subfloor and rot it out.

I am surprised your dealer does not know this was a common problem.

Thanks Alan for the links and thanks Captain Hank for the advice. I agree. The dealer should have been familiar with this issue. Several other people have had this problem. I appreciate you guys' excellent advice. You've given me some good direction.
