Roof Leak

I think that I've go a leak around the cealing vent. The funny thing is that there is a pinkish stain on the fabric that surrounds the vent and there is also the same stain on the vent housing it self. I probably need to recaulk the vent but what would cause that type of discoloration? The stain doesn't look like any water stain I've ever seen.

could it be colour from wet pink insulation? just a guess!

I would be willing to bet pink is from wet insulation. Just been through a couple leak problems-first in ten years, and when the insulation gets wet that seems to be one aspect of problem. As you are about to learn, it can be a real nightmare finding where the leak is. If you think it is the vent and recaulk that area and solve your problem count your blessings!! Trust me, it won't be that simple next time. Ha!!
