I've got a great question, which will show my inexperience, anyway what type of calking or putty is used on the interior walls? This 'stuff' is white & seems to never harden. I am replacing the wall next to my 'fridge and i need it to seal the bottom and part of the side. Someone help please........
I'll check out the Sikaflex 221, but I got some butyl tape & it dosen't look the same. The butyl tape is used in cars as a vapr and water barrier in the doors, this stuff( in the A/S) looks like it was put on with a caulk gun or something like it. I'm going to get a tube of Sikaflex and do some testing. I'll post some pics of the mystery stuff tomorrow, night all.....
I think the old Butyl Tape is black. There is an old, grey soft "tape" that was a linseed oil putty...I think Vintage Trailer supply sells a newer version of the same stuff as "Butyl Putty Tape".

I've got the same white stuff sealing the seams in my '78 Sovereign. Is it the Sikaflex 221?
Nowadays the factory principally uses Sikaflex 221 - discussion here.
Is the white sealant in this photo ('78 Sovereign) Silkaflex 221? I covers the seams and most of the other exterior penetrations. As an aside, has anyone got an easy way to remove the green mastic that held the insulation in place?
