Masterseal NP1 sealant FAIL

Just wanted to post this so that anyone considering this in the future will know.

I was sealing all rivets and seams from the inside.
I was out of Trempro 635 and did not want to wait for the mail.
So I check out Lowes....
BASF Masterseal NP1
also known as Sonolastic NP-1

Polyurethane sealant
used for acoustic damping
Interior and exterior
expansion joints
meets VOC requirements in all 50 states

Sounded good

used 12 tubes.

The problem. While it works , the smell is way to strong and filled the barn. 5 days later, it was still to strong in the airstream.

I did not notice this while I was putting it on.

Decided not to wait any longer. It had "hardened" enough to peal 95% of if off the walls. Leaving behind residue.

Smelled much better the next day. and the next. Just a hint left.

Ordered and resealed with Trempro 635. NO smell at all, at least to me.

So much for not wanting to wait for the mail. I will not make that mistake again.
