Leak in GT 25FB kitchen

Hey all.

Was in my AS today prepping for the first outing of the season. Noticed dried water spots in the sink, counter top and microwave. Intrigued me as the AS was cleaned thoroughly when we winterized it.

Looked above and noticed a brownish residue where the two alu skins meet right above the roof lockers. Anyone had that before? My AS is stored outside and snow does collect on the roof although I remove a lot of it throughout the year. Camped a lot last Fall during heavy rains and never noticed any leak. My theories:

1) Condensation that formed after I heated the trailer a few weeks back and then of course it cooled. Was pretty cold outside. Heat rises and hit the cold snow covered roof.

2) Water pooled as snow melted and came in perhaps through the AC?

3) I replaced the skylight with a Maxim one last Fall. Caulked thoroughly and never leaked after during rain but could snow melting around it let water in from higher than the base since there was snow piled up.

Any way, I welcome your insights here.

steilkurve, not sure if this is applicable but I’ll share just in case.

We had water dripping from a seam in the roof skin over the toilet. It only happened after a hard, sideways rain or when I washed the trailer.

It turned out water was getting in from the tank vent; not the seal to the roof but around the gasket and the stack pipe. The 360 Siphon vent has a funnel that’s supposed to be glued into the top but during installation Airstream just drops the funnel in the vent pipe. This allows the water to get between the vent stack pipe and the seal.

I fixed it by glueing the funnel in the top part so any water is directed down the stack pipe which is in the manufacturer’s instructions. Never had a leak afterwards.

Thanks Jeff. I’ve had that issue too and fixed the vent already. And it leaked in the bathroom. This seems to be a new leak. But thanks for jumping in!

When you replaced the very topmost cover on this toilet vent, you attached it upside down. (It's "cupped" now, but it should be the opposite, so water rolls off.). I only noticed this because I made the same mistake

I’m not following you on this one. The top cap came that way - I didn’t change it. In the Lippert installation instructions it shows it in this orientation.

BTW, step 2 also explains to snap the funnel into the top. Guess Airstream didn’t see that one.

Yep, Jeff is correct. The top came that way for me too on the 3 vents I replaced on 2 trailers.
