How much VULKEM???

O.K. Here is a little fact that is not on the forums. How many tubes of VULKEM do you need to do the average trailer? This sounds like a joke but here is the punch-line: We ordered ours from AirstreamDreams.com. we ordered 6 TUBES! We didn't understand why there was some concern about that amount but we wanted to be sure.
O.K. We went through 1 1/2 tubs and it is done. That means we have enough to practically VULKEM our entire 3 story house and my old Geo Metro car as well (that would make sense if you saw it).
So word to the wise - 2 tubes should to be enough. 3 tubes may be overkill. 6 tubes means that you have friends with Airstreams and you wanted to be sure they got the best sealant in the world as a gift.

I know how you feel! I thought a few tubes of Vulkum and Par Bond would be good, I have sealed two trailers now and still have a pretty good supply left for the future. Ya just never know till you try it I guess??

You all ARE NOT approaching this from the right angle...you HAVE the Vulkem now all you NEED is a few more trailers to install it on BTW I bougth 6 tubes also, but I knew I was going to be doing some body disassembly too.

I've gone through 8 tubes of Vulkem and 4 tubes of Sikaflex on my project and have not begun to edge seal panels. How did the Vulkem work out for you in edge sealing?

No, just windows and doors.

Hey - any suggestion of doing another TT - HUSH YOU ALL! Don't give my wife any more ideas. She is looking for a Spartan Manor!

Tim,

Send me Kimber's email address, there are a couple of Spartan Manors on Ebay right now.

I have gone through 6 cartridges so far, and have not sealed the windows and body seams yet from the outside.
During a shell off, the stuff disappears quickly. Especially when sealing wheel wells and entry step area, etc. The lower body seam took 2-3 cardridges alone. Add fantastic fan install, and a sheet replacement, and there you have it.

uwe,

Thanks for saving my butt.

wkerfoot,
Never, EVER mention eBay and Spartan Manor in the same message to us again! You have no idea how much trouble that might cause me.
My wife still doesn't know my eBay login and that's the way I want to keep it! But really we may yet get a Spartan...
