Found a ton of leaks! Glad I stripped it down

Well my wife and I finally got our interior completely stripped from our ‘59 Overlander and thank god we decided to pull every panel out. There are a ton of leaks showing through the body panel seams. I’m going to try my hardest to clean off all the black asphalt sealant and then use a scotch brute wheel on the grinder to clean up around the leaks. My plan currently is to seal all the seams on the inside with either Lexel or Sikaflex 221 and then cap every seam with Flex Seal spray. I’m hoping that will take care of the inside. On the outside I’m going to tape all exterior panel seams and use something to seal those up. I’ve read good things about Acryl-R (?) or even Lexel since it’s clear. Hope I’m on the right path here. I’d love to hear some feedback on our plan. Thanks y’all.

Sounds like you’re going all out to assure against future leaks. That’s a good thing. Before you reseal the interior joints, inspect the rivets on the exterior to make sure they’re all well bucked. We found some missing, or were never installed. Just easier to do it now than later. I removed the black mastic on the interior by removing all that would come off with a metal paint scraper, then solvent like Goof Off, finally like you mentioned with a Scotch Brite pad. Sounds good on the interior sealant. On the exterior we taped the joints as you are planning, but used Captain Tolley’s as a wicking sealant and Parbond as the topical flush sealant. One reason I like Parbond is it’s silver color and holding characteristics. Good luck
