finding leaks

Bought a moisture meter for walls or wood, using this inside the 2008 30' classic with vinyl liner about 2 hours after rain stops I can pinpoint leaks. By pressurizing trailer with large fan thru doorway and using soapy water outside you can find where they originate.

I bought mine at Costco with a laser temperature meter that I use to check the temp. of tires and wheel bearings when traveling. They came as a set for about $39.00. The name on the meter is Mannix moisture hunter.

I was amazed at the number of moist places I found with the meter that showed no stain or any visible sign of a leak. Dennis

ok you found moist places, with an aluminum trailer you are going to have condensation in places correct ? where were some of the fixable leaks

I check ours regularly with a Sonin 50211 moisture meter, and it's bone dry except when I found a leak below a loose door hinge. I think if you're indicating moisture in the subfloor you have external or plumbing leaks that need to be tracked down.

First place to go....the roof. You'll see lots of sloppy goop to inspect. Black tank vent, tv & radio antenna, FF vents, skylight, AC.

Work down from there...clearance lights, awning mount rail seam, window seams, mid & lower belt moulding, license plate pocket, tail lights, rear bumper, wheel wells.

My high indications with the moisture meter were center top of two vista windows and curb side of skylight this was after a rain. A couple days later nothing.

Could be condensation if you were inside for a period of time with things closed up (no ventilation) for the rain. Probe the subfloor below those areas to see if water migrated down. If so it may also dry up, but it'll probably take longer.
