D Window Gaskets

Just got all my D gaskets to do the door and windows.I am assuming I remove all the remaining bulb gasket and only use the D.
Also looking at the front window on the 65 Ambassador I notice as you look across the bottom of the window as you get about 6in"along the bottom the aluminum has a 3/4 in. that bends up slightly.I thought it was bent except there is one in the same place on the other side. What is the purpose of these two bends?
Sorry no pics.
