Has anyone tried a product called NP1
Has anyone tried a product called NP1. It comes in Aluminum color and I was told by the business I was at they used to carry Vulkem but they replaced Vulkem with this NP1. Sounds like a line to me . . .but I bought some just in case.

Hoppes #9 Blast & Clean Barrel Cleaner
Let me chime in here and say that this stuff should be in the Airstream Bible for cleaning up vulkem sealer. This stuff will liquify fresh sealant and loosen old. This product was brought to my attention by another Forum member some years ago and he is right, it can not be beat.
Now some folks feel environmental concerns outway the use of this product as it is a strong solvent, so be it, you are entitled to do as you wish.
I am a firm believer in vulkem as I have removed areas of the stuff that was 40+ years old and still pliable and doing it's job. Other areas that were subject to extreme exposure were not so soft but nothing a plastic scraper couldn't handle. I've used Parbond and all I can say is that it features a small nozzel. Vulkem, coupled with the Hoppes, can not be beat. Use of a small syringe or a large one with a big needle will get you wherever you what to go. Yes the vulkem is messy. But with a pair(s) of disposable gloves, papertowels and the Hoppes, you're looking at finish work smooth as a hound's tooth. Find Hoppes spray in most Camping aisles where gun supplies are featured. There are other brands too at WallMart. That's my truth and I'm stickin' to it. Hope this helps ya.

Where would you go to get this sealant? Also the vulkem, and parbond? Our '79 airstream has multiple leaks, I want to fix them all at one time.
Thanks

Vintage Trailer Supply is also a good place to shop for sealant and other products.

I'll give Inland RV a shout. I need the stuff like yesterday.

Funkill,
Do you have a Fastenal store nearby?? They carry Tremco products and if they don't have it, they'll get it for you in just a couple of days. I've had great success in getting lots of goodies for my Airstream at Fastenal.

I am fairly certain that there's one near the Sherwin Williams store - cruise by on my way home. Thanks for the tip!

I have a question..
I was looking at the TremPro 636 "Vulkem" Polyurethane and read the info about it and then I read about the TremPro 635 Polyurethane . I realize the 635 is faster setting then the other, but what does "no VOC version of Vulkem" Mean?

I'm new and just learning. I have a 1953 17' Clipper and some definite leaks. This baby has 13 little panels on the top and sides. Should I seal all of those? What is best seal to use in this situation? Also, a dumb question, but can I sit on top? I am in the 150# range, can't believe I've revealed that. I need to also get a good look at the old vent and dome, both appear to have been sealed up. I will also need to replace all the strips around the window and door. Is that the same as caulk or does that actually come in long strips? Please forgive the innocent newbie. Thanks to all.

Yes, You have to clean and seal all the seams. I like Tempro(Vulkem) but, everyone has there favorites. Read this whole thread and you will get a better idea of the different kinds of sealants. A trick I read about in the forums is to tape on ether side of the seam and then run a bead of caulk in the gap. Use your finger to really force it in the gap. Then remove the excise with your finger and remove the tape for a very tidy seam. Where gloves. You can get on top of your Airstream. Keep your weight on the ribs and think light. I've been on both of my Airstreams and I weight about 10 more pounds them you.
Weather stripping? Is that what you mean for around the windows and doors.

I have found some quantity of Vulkem 116 at a surplus store . It is not in caulking tubes (see pic below). It is very inexpensive and seems to be in good condition. I don't have a pressing need for it presently, I know I will need it when I do a reseal at some point. I am wondering if in this type of tube is this more trouble then it is worth? Or is there some type applicator that can be use with this tube that I am not familiar with?
Each tube is 20ozs.
Also if anyone is interested in these I could get it at $3.50 each plus shipping. I am not a dealer by any means but would do it for friends of the airforums.com

Almost always sunny here unless there is a hurricane bearing down on you. And then it's time to hook up the burb and roll. So far I've been very lucky.

This is what we call a sausage . To use it you will need a saussage gun (600ml) and they go for about +- 80$ each. It's your call.
