BolesAero roof seal

OK,I know this an Airstream forum but you guys are a wealth of helpful information.
I have a 65'Boles with a flat roof that sometimes turns into a pond. Before I replace all the water damaged ceiling(It's wood paneling, not aluminum),I need to seal the roof. The roof is sheets of aluminum with rivets and seams that have some sort of crimp together joint with no rivets. The seams and rivets have a hard as nails factory sealant that's deteriorating. Does any one know what they used back then and suggest what I can use? The whole roof was not sealed just the rivets and seams. Th roof also flexes a lot with movement and temp. changes.
Thanks for letting an aluminum kin in here.

Hi,
Get the old caked sealer off the best you can. Many ways from wood or plastic scrapers to aircraft paint stripper in small amounts. MEK will work but wear gloves and avoid fumes. Alcoa aluminum gutter seal and Vulkem to seal it. Enjoy the ride.

Pictures really would help in all this, but Robin is right for the most part.
