Aistream Repair Shop?

We have been busy with the magazine and have had little or no time to work on the restoration of our Argosy. We have gutted the entire interior and refurbished the floor, but we have an event coming up and we need to concentrate on the exterior. We have leaks, and we need to strip and paint. I have found a place to get it painted, but what about the leaks? I looked into www.rvleaks.com and it looks like the way to go, but there is more. Our Argosy has a TV antenna that we want gone which is going to require some work to do. Is there an Airstream store that can remove the antenna, repatch the roof, and seal our leaks? Our offices are in West Virginia. I know there are some places in Ohio. Does anyone have a suggestion?
Thanks,
Matt

Thumbs up

Airstream provides leak detection service at the repair center in Jackson Center, OH. They can do most any repair you may need. They would best know what needs to be done.

Aistream Repair Shop?

Greetings DPM!

Something to consider before having the coach re-sealed. What surface preparation is being planned prior to the repaint? If the paint is to be stripped with a chemical stripper, the re-seal should wait until after the paint job as the stripper will likely remove the sealant materials.

The Airstream plant in Jackson Center, Ohio is always a possibility. Sometimes, there may be a Vintage Friendly Airstream dealer nearer your location who could be helpful with repairs. I have hear good things about Out of Doors Mart in Colfax, NC -- but I haven't had any personal experience with their service center.

Another option, and this is one that I have been using since moving to Southern Illinois, is to take some time to learn about long-time RV dealers in your area (not necessarily Airstream dealers). In asking around the RV community in my area, I found the names of two long-time dealers (both more than 30 years) -- then, I visited each and spoke with the service managers about their comfort level working with Airstream products -- one of these shops was quite comfortable working with Airstreams and has since done quite a bit of repair work on both of my coaches -- most recently, a new blackwater tank on my Overlander.

Good luck with your investigation!

Kevin
