Adhesive Question Window Weather Strip '92 Escella

Rebuilding and restoring a 1992 Excella. We have the weather strip / gasket, and 3M Gasket Adhesive purchased from odmrv.com. I was reading the adhesive instructions and "step two" caused me to pause. I'm including a couple of pictures of the instructions. I'll say up front that I know I'm setting myself up for a ribbing, but here goes. The Instructions say ...DO NOT Close Bond. I'm hoping someone might be able to explain what close bonding is so I make sure I do not do it.

Okay, let the ribbing begin. Hahaha

But if anyone can get serious I'd really like a straight answer.

Crap, I finally read it correctly. Oh well it's out there now. Hahaha

That means you will apply the 3M adhesive to both surfaces than allow each to flash dry. Once both are dry you can "bond" them together eg. "mate" the two 3M doused surfaces. Get it?


This is process is a pretty standard method for gluing/bonding two surfaces with adhesive.

The adhesive is one of many forms of contact cement.....they all work the same, some better then others. Their use is not limited to the installation of gaskets.
