I came across this product, which looks interesting (and expensive):
3Mâ„¢ Extreme Sealing Tape - 3M US
I'm starting a restoration process, and I was thinking of applying this on the inside of the seams that make up the exterior aluminum panels. It seems like the benefits would be:
1) It also seals all the rivets from the inside.
2) Never have to recaulk.
3) Never have to caulk the outside, which is probably a tough place to caulk since the seams on the roof face downward, and are subject to sun/wind/rain/polishing damage.
4) More leak resistant than caulking, which requires re-caulking and a lot of attention to achieve 100% coverage.
I'd have to pull the interior cladding off, but I was planning on doing that anyway.
Has anyone tried this product before? Thoughts?
