I have a 1950 FC and would like to remove the roof vents to polish them and to replace the seals. The knobs are held on with a spring loaded ball just like a socket wrench. The ‘screw/lifting mechanism’ is held by rivets. I do not wish to drill the rivets as the vents work almost as new. They are the only thing on the trailer that really doesn’t need any major repair. All they need is cleaned, polished and new seals. Am I just not seeing how to remove these? Help, thanks. Gene
The vents controllers have those rivits at the bottom holding them to the bracket. You should only have to pry back the bracket at each rivit as the rivit goes thru the bracket into the controller and does not have to be drilled out ,even though it appears so .Safari tim I think has posted some pics of this so check the past threads or try the search function for Hehr vent
controller removal ,see if you can get to the threads ,there are detailed photos there too showing the removal .Once you pry back the bracket/rivit
the controller should come right out .there is a rivit at the top that is suppose to stay there .Remember to lube those well and often becasue they can freeze up .One of mine on my 60 would not free up after weeks of soaking .looking for another replacement .

I had one that was stuck and it seemed like nothing would free it up. A buddy suggested soaking it with clean varsol and I did so, several times over a week. It did free up with that.
I did remove that top rivit and finally got it apart ,but now the small square
piece is unattached to the cap/inner piece ,need to figure a way to reattach it.some one here talked about taking that cap off ,so I did ,but it appears the square piece is broken off the main inner rotater ,so Im just looking for another to replace it ,Im working on it though.
