Question stove vent installation

I posted this in the general exterior forum, too, regarding a leak.
I have the fiberglass vent cover which was thrown into the deal with the A/S (!), no gasket, no idea on how to install it-other than the old one appears to be attached with screws.

All evidence points to a leak originating from this stove vent to the right of the sink. Water seems to be dripping through wood over sink/stovetop and to the floor.
There may be another leak involved, too-but the replacement of the vent cap is the place to start.
The good news is I wanted to put in Pergo instead of carpet...but now I really need to keep the water out first.(already read that forum and threads!)

Onward, hunting leaks,
Martha

Martha,

I just got done fixing a leak in my stove exhaust vent.

I Parrbond the entire perimeter, around the screw heads and just below the exhaust flap opening on the exhaust vent itself.

We had a heavy rain Sunday afternoon and no more leaks.

Sealer

John is right. My vent cover is simply bedded in sealant, apparently the sealant is vulcum.

The day I bought the trailer, it rained and there were drops of water on the countertop. I put it on the "fix-it" list and the tech told me when I picked up the trailer that he had sealed a gap in the caulking. It hasn't leaked since.

Thanks!

Most of all, I appreciate your moral support (It seems like when it rains, it pours)

My symptoms were definitely drops on the countertop! (and cabinets and floor ....)
Replacing the vent will go to the top of my fix-it list!

It was a little daunting to step inside onto a soggy carpet with water "everywhere".

whew...maybe it isn't as bad as it looks!

Duct tape

Tape it up. Better than getting wet inside. Goof Off will remove the taper residue later.

There is going to be another gully-washer night coming up.
