Shower fan screeches!

Likely problem and fix?

As always, thanks in advance.

Look and see if the fan blades are contacting the screen.

The fan motor bearings or bushing are probably dry. If you can get some WD40 on it you can probably quiet it back down. It would be better if you can actually get some sewing machine oil to each end of the motor. But that will require removing the fan assembly.

To me, WD40 isn't a fix. Anything I've used it on as a lube was always only temporary. I think of WD40 as a cleaner.

Some disassembly may be required, but oil is going to last longer. Have you looked at how much a new fan is, as a comparison?

I've got this old lady neighbor that screeches.
Likely problem and fix?

Takes more oil and considerably more disassembly.
