Roof fan squeals

I think I have a Fan-tastic vent. It has the pop in screen, and the speed control is variable (not single speed, or 3 speed). The problem is that it squeals. At every speed. It's not bad; in fact DW did not even notice it until I pointed it out to her. Now she doesn't like the sound, either. Is this motor easy to access and lube? And if so, what would you put on it? Thanks in advance!
Bret

Never seen a FV with variable speed, ours is 3spd reversible. Pic?

Anyway...have had good luck using WD40 on the shaft, easier done from above. Have used it on the stove vent motor also.

Check for a pine needle or leaf wedged in there. They can squeal too!

Give the man a (bubble gum) cigar! I have finally made my way to caulking back there and discovered it to be a SHURflo. http://www.shurflo.com/rv-products/r...ult.html#tab04

OK, so now that we know it's a SHURflo, it's time to re-caulk that puppy. Guess what? Just like the skylight, the 'good' folks at JC put a major whump on the screws attaching it to the roof.

1st photo; cracks are not too bad.

2nd photo, crack goes up the side of the roof jack. (Sorry about the focus.)

So, what do you think? Should I replace the whole fan assembly, or just glob LOTS of caulk all over it? In advance, thanks!

Thumbs up

JD,

When I replaced the skylight last year I used these plastic caps over the screw heads, fill them with caulk press on and let dry. Sika 721 UV works very well.

Your other cracks don't look too bad yet, a good sealing should last, inspect often.

Thanks. Yep, caulk and me are the best of buds.
