Replacing fan and vent plastic rather then entire vent

I've read through a number of the threads regarding vent replacement, and although it seems like a fairly easy project in comparison to many other airstream projects that people take on, I reluctant to remove the old vent and cut a new opening for the new vent. It would also presumably mean removing the light fixture that is there. Currently my vent fan stopped working, and the plastic pice on the top cracked.

What I'm really looking to do is to replace the stock vent wit some new components, perhaps a new plastic cover, and also replace the actual fan with one that has a variable speed or thermostat. Has anyone tried this method rather than replacing the entire fan unit? Where did you source the parts ?

Find a model you like, order it, and then upon installation see what parts you can use. However, you may find a complete replacement is the way to go.

Does your trailer have a 14" x 14" hole?
