Power Vent installation - Curvature question

I have seen several owners writing about an install, but I am concerned about installing a flat object on a round skin. The outside is not that much of a deal because the screws will suck it into place but on the inside, is there going to be a gap fore and aft on the vent trim? Is there a filler piece that some chaps are using? I really need to go and look at a newer one and see how they do it.

The fantastic fans have an inside trim made especially for airstreams and have the curve for a nice installation. the make a flat trim for other rv's also.

Vintage Trailer Supply has Fantastic fans with the curved inside trim piece. Also they supply fans with a silver hatch cover that very closely matches the original aluminum vent covers. When mine was delivered, the trim piece was broken. I called VTS and then sent another out that day, no problem. Steve and his folks really care about Airstreamers. Also, spend the little extra on the one with the rain sensor, I can tell you from experience this summer in the Smoky Mountains, it is money well spent. We left the vent open and while we were gone for the day and there was an unpredicted severe thunderstorm that lasted for a couple of hours. When we returned, with our fingers crossed, the vent was down and all was dry.

I believe that Fantastic Vent calls the curved piece a "garnish" or some such ... I just had one installed at the factory earlier this year, and the tech explained that they have models for flat roofs and for curved (i.e. Airstream) roofs.

Here's a hint: there is a factory team from Fantastic Vent that goes to a lot of big rallies, and I think that if you are there and buy at the rally, they will install the unit free of charge.

Not all years use a curved garnish. Keep that in mind when ordering.

I ONLY install Fantastic Vents with rain sensors. Well worth the extra money. Since I have all my fans custom built for me it is not an option for my clients to get one without the sensor.

Thanks for the leads on vendors and such. I started looking at the fantastic vent with a remote control, but wondered how limited the features were with the remote. I ended up considering a maxxair deluxe model with a fully functional remote. I'm wanting to get a remote model because I want to keep my original living room light fixture. If I do this I either have to make access holes in it to turn the knobs and switches or else get a vent that I don't have to touch (remote). Now I'm wondering if I should scrap the whole idea of a fancy fan and buy the basic one and save $200 then buy a new LED light fixture for the living room. I'll consider get the rain sensor feature also.

To FC7039: Camping World Houston had one last time I was there. I plan to be there again next Wednesday and buy one for my 25' 2001 Safari if they still have it!

It looks like the factory table to me. I have something similar in my 1983 Excella. Same folding design, not as nice at that one though.

We have two FantasticFans in our Bambi. The first one was installed by the dealer and has the rain sensor, auto open/close, thermostat, etc. The second one, I installed myself. We decided not to get all the bells and whistles on this one, since it is over the bed, and we normally don't leave it open when we're gone. All it has is three speeds and the in/out switch, and you have to manually open and close it. So far, we haven't needed any of the other features that are on the higher-end model over the dining table.

I suppose we should have gotten the curved "garnish". However, the roof is relatively flat in the center where the fans are mounted; and I don't see any gaps on the inside, probably because we have the mouse fur ceiling.
