Loss signal: Firefly to Fantastic Fan - Seeking Troubleshooting Clues!

For whatever reason our Firefly Panel is no longer recognizing our forward LR fantastic fan. The icons on the Firefly panel will not. illuminate, i.e. either manual or auto modes and pressing of the control buttons to open/close the fan or turn it on/off is working.

I can bypass the Firefly and go direct to the fan and it has power but again, there is a disconnect somewhere.

Seeking suggestions.

Hi

There's a cable that plugs into the fan. It runs to a wiring harness. That harness hooks to the Firefly controller. First thing is to trace that cable from the fan down to the controller under the wardrobe. Make sure everything is tight.

Once you are sure everything is plugged in. the time honored approach on all modern tech is to reboot it. In this case, go off shore power and disconnect the battery. Wait 60 seconds and then hook it back up. That may or may not help.

The cable plugs into a control board in the controller. If that board dies then the fan is offline. Troubleshooting / replacing that board is going to mean a call to JC or to Firefly. There isn't a lot you can do to fix it yourself.

Bob, I've traced it to both the 70038A Firefly Vent Fan controller module which is in the ceiling next to the overhead fantastic fan as well as to the back of the G6A DC panel 7100003AC and found all the can terminals to be tight. I m now suspect that the 70038A vent. fan controller is bad and have since ordered one from Firefly. Cutting all power and rebooting did not change anything.

Thanks for the valued input.

Hi

It's only valued input *if* it fixes the problem, until the fan is actually working, it's just another scatter brained idea

Indeed there are tests you can run on a CAN bus with the right gear. I suspect there is a Firefly training module on how to do that. Good luck getting at it as a random customer. Their customer service might be able to get you a link if you have a bunch of test gear.
