Hehr Roof Vent Operator 1951-1965

Be warned. I purchased 2 of the vent operators from Inland RV for my astrodome roof vent. They are expensive. They are far from perfect. 1. They take 40 turns (yes, 40) to raise or lower vs about 10 for the orginals. 2. BIGGER ISSUE. The orignals brought the vent all the way down to touch the roof which made a good seal around the raised roof trim. These new ones bring the vent down to more than 1/2 inch from the roof. Naturally thats where water, bugs and wind can come in. Now, I am searching for weather stripping to try to compensate for the gap. I tried 1/2 tall stripping and that didnt even touch the vent. I cant lower the operator brackets because then I could not use the screen. So, the gearing is wrong and the height of the shaft is to tall preventing it to lower correctly.
