fantastic fan upgrade 1200 -> 7350

He have a 2017 AS22Fb it came with base 1200 fantastic fan model

i have bought the new 7350 fantastic fan model
the hole in the roof is the same.

i would prefer to not have to remove the exterior plate and all the weather proofing.

can i keep the exterior outside as is and just replace the other pieces

there are no upgrade details in the manual

We have/had two 6000 series, 3 speed/1 direction. 2 years ago we developed a leak attributed to a curb/base that had cracked at one corner. They indicated they no longer had the curb/base for the 6000, so sent me the 3350 3 sp/reversible as a replacement. Same opening size, but the fan motor/rotor was different, smaller i believe.

Same thing happened to the other fan, same place that cracked. Again, shipped another 3350. BTW, great warranty, tho they kept saying what i needed was the trim piece...garnish i think they referred to it? Needed to keep on it with them, no the base/curb. They finally found the old order and just duped it! Great to work with cs, just take good notes w/names.

So to my point, as the base/curbs were the same dimensjon, i would think if they are interchangeable, they simply sent the base/curb from the 3350. Surely cheaper than a complete new fan. IMO, i don't think they are interchangeable. [ edit, i should say i am not familiar with the two series of the OP, and just making on my series and observations]

I didn't compare the fan housing connections pts between the two at the first replacement, since JC agreed to cover 1hr labor as good will. My new one just arrived a few minutes ago so will look at bit closer for comparison similarities ~ differences.

BTW the dometic warranty i believe 2 years p&l, then an additional 5 parts only.

the top of the fan, case, side panels and dome are all the same.

all i had to do, was remove the old 1200 base panel, and disconnect a few wires
do the same on the 7350, plus remove the water sensor

on the old 1200 upper panel below the dome, pop a hole for the rain senor and screw it down

add the 7350 base and wire it up.

the 7350 come with a wireless remote

no need to do any roof work, except screw the rain sensor in
the 1200 base is on the left, the 7350 base on the right

i also moved to ID sticker so that it could be seen from inside the trailer

BTW, all the newer models have smaller diameter fan blades, thus no need to move them as the base panel slips over it

Maxx Fans are far superior, I can’t say enough.

I bought Maxx Fans in Amazon. Easy to install perfect fit, and very quiet!

this by far is the Easiest upgrade i have ever done!
  • 1 hour start to finish
  • nothing to change outside
  • just swap the lower panel
  • the rain senor can be install from inside, once you remove the fan blade. only one screw, and its a blind screw from inside, but easy

here is what it looks like

we mounted the remote above the fridge and on the left side of the kitchen cupboard

great design by dometic!!

Waninae39, nice install. Thanks for the post and pic. I checked out our older 6000 series against the new 3350 and the connections to the base curb are identical, both Int/Ext as far as I can tell. At least the screws are in the same place. So I've ended up w/ 2 of everything except for the base curb.

Still not why they just didn't send that part and would have been very excited with a new base/curb. However I will gladly accept having two reversible fans

happy trails
Bob

[ edit: what I really like about the newer fans is the ability to remove the fan blade wheel, Now it and the dome can be cleaned and treated with 303 and I can add some silicone oil ( https://tinyurl.com/ybefoset ) to the epdm seal whet the dome starts to stick.]

I looked for awhile on their website but the 6000 series wasn't in my line of sight. Since this was a warranty claim ( i had to document proof/date of purchase, failure and leak) they asked for model & serial number and sent the complete 3350. Base for the 3350 would have been fine but they weren't offering that as an option. It was hard enough convincing them that the "garnish" was the wrong part.

I'm having a bit of trouble with the first replacement fans off/1/2/3 switch. Seems my on is about 1.5, ...if it is working....or any # not working. I could not get a response to the cross ref part acceptability ??? from them. The sooner of 1) it finally fails, 2) i get tired of dealing with it...i'll either swap it out from the old 6000,s or go by a local supplier and they can order one. My experience is that dometic doesn't want to deal with (at least with owners) re individual parts.

IHMO, just order these parts off the web site or some supplier
  • 7350 base assembly
  • motor
  • motor case
  • new motor knob
  • rain sensor board

all other pieces are the SAME when i moved from 1200 -> 7350

then you will have a full feature fan with all the bells and whistles.
less than 1 hour to install and get everything working

also, the fan was made smaller in 2015.
thus any new model from 2015 + is easy to remove

my 2 cents

on page 3 of the pdf, there is an important note about the motor jumper.

the upgrade supports old and new motors
the jumper tells the board which type you have.

we love the upgrade and its much quieter according to my other half

I understand you said it is quieter, but what are the other benefits of replacing the 1200 fan with the 7500? I have a 2016 22FB Sport.

  • auto close
  • from 2 -> 13 speeds
  • fan can suck or blow
  • auto shut when it rains
  • auto open or close at preset temp
  • wireless remote

only the base gets swapped
plus the rain sensor
