Fantastic Fan Troubleshoot

Hey everyone, I was hoping I could get the hive mindís help on an issue that is stumping me. My ďFantastic FanĒ ceiling fans isnít functioning.

First issue was that it stopped turning on. Only the fan part though. The motor that controls the rain guard functions fine.

So I took the screen down and started messing with wires to see if anything was loose and randomly the thing turns on (I had the switch on on while wiggling wires) but then the blade hit a wire and the fuse blew ( Iím unsure if that was a coincidence but I doubt it.

So I replace the fuse and try again, this time careful to keep the wires away from the fan blades. Works. So I screw it all back in and test it out. Fan turns on and operates fine.

Last thing I check is that the automatic turn on/off feature works in combination with the rain guard as itís raised/lowered. The fan shuts off as the rain guard comes down, but then when I try to have it turn on as the rain guard goes up the fan wonít turn on again. Fuse is not blown and I canít see any issues visually.

I read that the fan has a shut off/ turn on feature so that it shuts itself off as the rain guard comes down and only turns on when the rain guard is open enough to provide enough air flow for proper operation. I am beginning to wonder if there is something wrong with the wires responsible for that communication between the rain guard and fan motors, or something like that?

Any ideas/experienced anyone? This is a 2021 FC 25FB, really only like 4 months old at this point.

Are you turning the temperature setting? There are two knobs; The speed, and the other the temperature setting (it has all the colors on it red for warm and blue for cool). If the fantastic fan isn’t coming on it is most likely cool outside and the fan temp setting isn’t low enough.

There is a switch on the front edge under the dome that is similar to the switch on the doorpost of car to operate the car's dome light. It can get wonky. Spraying a bit of Corossion-X and working the button a bit should do the trick.

I tried all the dials. Had it set for max cold, same as the other fan. And 1 worked while the other doesnít donít think itís a temp sensor issue

A switch internal to the screen cover? Or the little black one next to the rain guard motor?

When the cover opens there is a small little switch that is suppose to come up. When the cover comes down it is suppose to close. It is on the outside of the screen cover. It could be that this switch is stuck or bad. My guess it is stuck before it is bad. But when you take the screen off you should try moving it up and down. If that doesn’t make the fan run and stop then it may be bad. If it doesn’t come up all the way to turn the fan on, it may need to be adjusted or lubricated.

I cycled that switch a bit. I also found that the power in cable was rubbing against the fan, after I noticed the copper wire showing. That explains why my fuses kept blowing. I think it was a combo of both issues. Seems to be working fine now
