Fantastic Fan - Rain Sensor Not Working

Need help with the following.
1. Fan switch in 0 position but when we turn it to 1,2,3, it glows red.
2. If we leave fan switch in 0 position, and manually open vent, turn fan on,
lid will close in matter of seconds.
3. We can leave lid open without fan on.
4. The nob that goes from all blue to red is in the all blue position.

We called Fantastic Fan, they were going to send some info, but haven't received it yet.

They talked about disconnecting the rain sensor.

We're in Florida and would like some ventilation.

What to do next?

Thanks.

Sounds like your FF may be different from mine. I’ve noticed that I need have the fan on in order for the rain sensor/automatic closing to work. I leave my fan on 1-2-3 and if I don’t want the fan actually running I adjust the temp sensor to all hot. That way the fan is off and the vent cover is open, and if the rain sensor detects rain the vent cover will close.

At first I found the FF controls confusing but after time I have come to like the FF.
Good luck!

One of the best mod's you will do for your Airstream is to put vent covers over the Fantastic Fans. Then you can leave the vent open even when it's raining, and forget about the rain sensors and their quirks. Then you can also leave the vents open when towing, helping to cool the trailer enroute.

They are made by several manufacturers and all work well, choose the style and color you like best. They are inexpensive (as RV stuff goes) and an easy install, we used a ladder on each side of the Airstream with padding to protect the Airstream shell from scratches or dents.

It is under the lid on top of the trailer. You will need to get onto the roof to get to the sensor.
From the roof: with the lid open and the fan speed set to "0", rub the rain sensor's surface with a pencil eraser or clean it with a damp cloth.

Thumbs up

the rain sensor is right here, after getting the snap-in screens it's easy to wipe the sensor clean from inside.
