Fantastic Fan not on

Yesterday i turned on my Fantastic Fan and the lid lifted but the fan did not turn on. I checked the fuse...ok. I double checked to make sure the fan switch was on and it was. I turned the thermo knob and could hear it click so that was ok. But no fan.

So like all good AS'er I went to the forum and looked up threads on the FF and it seems like the culprit could be the switch controlled by the plunger which is actuated by the lid closing and opening. So I want to check that first.

My question, can that plunger be accessed by removing the screen and fan blades? I don't want to climb on the roof if it can be avoided.

Your thoughts and comments appreciated.

I have same problem. Cover raises and lowers, even responds to rain sensor. Can hear the thermostat click. And the fan will work every now and then, I haven't discerned why it will work or not.

You can access the plunger switch after removing the screen and the fan blades. Just unscrew it and plug in the new one. The switch is actually a ground for the plastic mounted fan motor. It is such a simple switch I hope it fixes your problem.

That was the answer I was hoping for.

John, thanks for the response and picture of the switch.

My fan is also not working

Checked the fuse which is fine. The little pin that pops up when the lid is lifted pops up a tiny bit. Not sure how much it should pop up. Question for you all, how do I remove the screen on the fan? Feels like it’s going to break when I try to remove it.

Feel around the outer edge of the screen for a raised part of it that is for a finger hold to get you started. Work around the perimeter and pop it off.

Update…..based on suggestions that it might be a sticky switch and if I open and close it several times it might free itself, I did just that and it released and is working again.

Another thing to add to the maintenance schedule.

Thanks for everyone’s input!
