Fan-tastic Fan Motor opens but will not close hatch

Hi everyone,

I purchased a Fan-tastic fan from Amazon in February and had it professionally installed in April.... pandemic happened and we did not travel. Now that we are back on the road, I am having difficulty with the operation. The motor will open the fan and the fan functions correctly.... however, when it is time to close it, the motor will not close the hatch and it has to be manually cranked down. The user guide is not helpful. I contacted Dometic and got a "we cannot troubleshoot your problem" reply.

Does anyone have a clue?

Well...did it ever work correctly?

Our Classic has the original FF. The newer units have changed a bit.
That being said the controls on our front fan can be a bit confusing.
Illustration...our fan has a speed switch that has a zero setting, nothing will work at all unless that switch is set on a speed. 🤔

It also has an three position in/out switch,(center position turns the fan off) which has always worked and a thermostat that has never worked.🥴

There is also a limit switch that requires cleaning and lubrication and a rain sensor that must also be kept clean.

A photo of your fan with a close-up of the controls would help a lot.

I don't think that it ever worked correctly. The RV technician that did the install demonstrated opening and how it worked... when the hatch failed to power down, we stared at the controls. Lighting was bad and I had not read the manual.... I made the assumption that it was user error and cut the technician loose. It HAS (on occasion) worked but not consistently. I wondered if the controls have to be a certain position? It is a model 3350.

I will snap a photo this afternoon.

Thanks for considering my problem!
