Smaller gauge screens?

Hi,
Just wondering if anyone has changed out the factory screens for ones with smaller holes? We're currently on the road and the little gnats, noseeums and the like are getting in far too often!

Thanks!

I've replaced some screens, but not for that reason. It's not that big of a job.

However, I seriously doubt the little critters are coming THRU the screens. I'd look for areas that don't seal well for their entry point.

Don't know if screen size is any different on new AS's but our 65's screens allows the Noseeums to come right through. We are planning to replace all screen material before spring.

Unfortunately, a smaller screen size (even if you can find it) will cut down on your air flow through the screen significantly, all year and you will be unhappy with that. We had a cottage in upstate NY with very fine mesh screening. Might as well have had the windows closed for all the air that came in.

Thanks everyone, when we get home in October, I'll look at changing out just a couple windows/door, to see how it works and decide from there. I did find some smaller screen on the web, forget the place right now. I did examine the bugs and compared them to the mesh size, these little buggers have no trouble sliding through! Fortunately, they don't seem to bite, they are just annoying.

thanks,
Jeff & Liz

richinny - Thanks for the link to METRO Screenworks.

idroba - gauge that is smaller does reduce airflow.
